Christmas bingo is an easy game for a classroom party, a family evening or a quiet corner while the cookies bake. This free set gives you six different bingo cards and a caller sheet with all 40 words, so you can print, cut and play in a few minutes. Everything in it was designed from scratch, with no brand or character artwork.
What is in the free set
The PDF has seven US Letter pages:
- Six bingo cards (pages 1 to 6). Each card is a 5 by 5 grid under the letters B-I-N-G-O, with a star-marked FREE square in the center. The other 24 squares use Christmas words such as Reindeer, Gingerbread, Carols, Stocking and North Pole. Every card has a different mix of words.
- A caller sheet (page 7). All 40 words in the word pool are listed in a grid. You can tick each word as you call it, or cut along the dashed lines into 40 slips and draw them from a bowl.
The cards use words only, with no pictures. That makes them a good fit for kids who are starting to read familiar words, and a grown-up can read each word aloud for pre-readers.
How to play
- Give each player a card and something to mark with: a crayon, a pencil, a sticker or a scrap of paper.
- Choose a caller. The caller draws one slip at a time from the bowl, reads and shows the word, then keeps that slip aside. If you prefer not to cut, call words in a mixed order and tick them on the intact sheet.
- Players look for the word anywhere on their card and mark it without hiding the word. Before the first call, everyone marks the center FREE square.
- The first player with five marked squares in a row, across, down or corner to corner, calls “Bingo!”
- The caller checks the winning row against the saved slips or ticked words. If more than one player wins on the same call, celebrate a shared bingo and shuffle for another round.
Ways to change the game
- Four corners. The first player to mark all four corner squares wins.
- Blackout. Keep playing until a card is completely covered. This usually takes more calls than a single row; the length depends on your calling pace.
- Clue caller. For a vocabulary variation, describe the word on the slip, then say and show that exact word before anyone marks a square. For example, “a striped peppermint sweet” can introduce Candy cane. Confirming the answer matters because some clues can fit several words on the cards.
- Team bingo. Pairs or small teams share a card, which is helpful when you have mixed ages and want everyone to take part.
- Act it out. Instead of reading the word, the caller acts it out or draws it on a whiteboard while players guess. Expect plenty of reindeer.
Age guidance
Kids who are beginning to recognize common words can often follow their own card with a little help. Younger children can join in with a grown-up or older buddy who reads each word and points to it on the card. Older kids and adults will enjoy the clue caller and blackout variations.
Printing and classroom tips
- Print at 100% or “Actual size.” Color is optional, because the cards work in black and white.
- Printing on cardstock or sliding cards into clear sleeves lets you reuse them. Mark with dry-erase markers and wipe clean between rounds.
- Playing with more than six people? Let pairs or small teams share the six cards, or print duplicate copies. Copied cards can win together, and different cards can also reach bingo on the same call. Agree to celebrate shared wins before you start.
- Skip small loose markers such as buttons or beads around children under 3 or anyone who still puts things in their mouth. Crayons and stickers are safer choices.
- Cut the caller sheet slips in advance and keep them in an envelope so setup takes no time on party day.
