Free Christmas Coloring Pages for Kids (Printable PDF)

These eight Christmas coloring pages are free to download and print at home. Each page is simple line art with thick outlines and big open shapes, so small hands can color without wrestling tiny details, and older kids have plenty of room to add patterns of their own. All of the artwork was drawn from scratch for this set. There are no movie, TV or brand characters in it.

What is in the free set

The PDF has eight pages on US Letter paper (8.5 x 11 inches), with one picture per page:

  • Christmas tree
  • Ornament
  • Stack of presents
  • Stocking
  • Snowman
  • Shining star
  • Candy cane
  • Gingerbread cookie

Every page has a dashed inner border to color inside (or cheerfully ignore) and a name line in the top corner, which makes finished pages easy to sort at a classroom table. The pages are black and white, so they use very little ink, and the margins are sized for ordinary home printers.

Which ages is it for?

The set is aimed at roughly ages 3 to 10, with the usual note that every child is different.

  • Ages 2 to 4: Chunky crayons and scribbling are completely fine. The thick outlines give a clear target, but staying inside the lines is not the goal at this age.
  • Ages 5 to 7: Many kids start to enjoy choosing a color plan, such as a red and green tree or a rainbow of ornaments, and coloring one shape at a time.
  • Ages 8 and up: Add backgrounds, patterns, shading and texture. The gingerbread cookie and the ornament are good canvases for detailed decorating with fine-tip markers or colored pencils.

Adults who like a quiet coloring break are welcome to use them too.

Printing tips

  • Print at 100% or “Actual size.” Choosing “Fit to page” can shrink the picture and shift the border.
  • Plain copy paper works well for crayons and colored pencils. If you plan to use markers, a heavier paper such as cardstock holds up better, and a scrap sheet underneath protects the table.
  • Choose black and white or grayscale to save color ink. Skip “draft” mode, which can make the lines look faint.
  • You do not need to print all eight. Type a page range such as 1-3 in the print dialog to print only what you need.
  • For a class or a party, print a couple of extra copies of the snowman and the tree. They tend to be the first pages picked.

Ideas beyond coloring

  • Gift tags and decorations. Color the ornament, cut it out (with supervision for younger children), punch a hole and add string.
  • Homemade cards. Glue a finished page onto a folded sheet of construction paper and write a message inside.
  • Story starters. Ask what is inside the stocking or who is hungry for the gingerbread cookie, then have your child tell the story or write a sentence under the picture.
  • Add the scene. Invite kids to draw what is behind the snowman or around the tree: a snowy yard, a living room, the night sky.
  • Texture time. Glue on torn tissue paper, cotton balls for snow, or stickers for ornaments.
  • A quiet table at a party. Set out the pages, a cup of crayons and a basket of colored pencils, and let guests drift in and out.
  • Mail a page. A colored picture is an easy thing to send to a grandparent or friend who lives far away.

Making the pages last

If you want a reusable version, slide a page into a clear sleeve and color with dry-erase markers, then wipe it clean for the next artist. Finished pages look nice taped to a window or a wall, and a binder clip or a ribbon turns a stack of them into a small booklet.
